Abstract

This article presents a discussion trough the concept of extreme cultura, as a strategy of hegemony.  This is done through the analysis of three writings by Antonio Gramsci, two newspaper publications, and a small essay from the 5th grade. We start from the premise that extreme culture is a Gramsci category, but it is not an expression used by him, directly, as the concept of hegemony, for example. Through the analysis of the texts, we identified that extreme culture reveals a process of knowledge and constitutes an important element of strategy for the pursuit of hegemony, because it is through culture that a new language is transformed and capable of subsidizing new actions and new directions.
