Abstract

The aim of the research is to show a reflexion on Brazilian public health policies and their interrelation with home health care, with the aim of providing support to the actions undertaken by health professionals. The changes in the health system have permeated this process in an attempt of establishing organizational and operational principles, such as reorienting the care model based on epidemiology, decentralization and regionalization, centred on basic health care. The reflection indicates that there are gaps between public health policies and home health care which need to be considered in order to help the population meet their health needs. There is surely a necessity of involvement and interventions from both health service managers and health professionals.
