Abstract

This study aims at identifying the meaning of caring for nursing technicians and verifying difficulties those professional face when taking care of patients. It is an exploratory and descriptive research developed in a reference public hospital in the highlands of Paraíba. A semi-structured interview was used for data collection. Data were subjected to an issue analysis, and two issues emerged: “caring as a technical procedure” and “caring as ethics and attention”. The first issue has the connotation of a duty whereas the second one is based on technical procedures and on interpersonal relations between the professional and the patient.
