Impact from the specialization courses at the transformation of the nurse practice: a study about the research value

Abstract

The continued education for the professional is a condition and even a need for its modernization, in the nursing a form of continuous education is the sensu lato master degree. This study objectified to evaluate the contribution of the specialization courses for the transformation of the male nurses practice; to verify its interest in the accomplishment of  researches to improve the practice; and as the published results are used. It was investigated the male nurses from the courses of specialization that took place in the period from 1980 to 1996, being used a questionnaire to collect the depositions. The results showed that 54% of the studied male nurses took Course of Specialization in Doctor-Surgical Nursing, 74% took the experience of doing a research to write the course’ monograph, 100% of the ones that accomplished research considers it as essential, because the production of the knowledge contributes to amplification of the science, in the case, the nursing. However, only 45% presented the results of its studies in scientific events of the area. It is ended that the specialization courses are strategies for the male nurse approach with the research, but that one cannot still say that the specialists notices it as an instrument for their process work.
