Resumen

Evidence-based Practice – EBP, is, presently a recommended strategy for the improvement of clinical and managerical health care practices. This paper focuses on the problems in the use of the evidence for the construction of care protocols for normal births in a maternity hospital. The group process and the barriers to the effective implementation of evidence-based practice in the context of the study are discussed. It is concluded that the utilization of the evidence for normative decision-marking is viable but there is a need for group improvement in the search for and validation of scientific studies.
