Abstract

In the form of a testimony, the text notes that the UFC Department of Social Sciences has had, over its busy fifty years, the expected development of a university institution, arriving firm and strong to offer a degree and a program of consolidated and recognized postgraduate courses with quality teaching and research. In quick strokes, I would like to portray the course of this department in what seems to me most symptomatic and valuable to recall critically. Thus, I highlight four stages of his institutional career: the daring beginnings; the rise of research and theoretical dogmatism; fragmentation and doctorate; the normalized consolidation of CAPES.
