Resumen

One aimed at identifying the thematic guidelines of nursing research about women’s health and their relation to the reality of Brazilian women’s health. Four nursing periodical classified in the QUALIS CAPES as B and C international, published from 1995 to 2003, were consulted; 140 research-type articles that involved adult and adolescent women were found. It was possible to remark that the theme the most broached was the demographic and obstetric profile / cycle of pregnancy and postparturition. Others like cardiovascular disease, uterine and breast cancer, violence and AIDS should be more explored in nursing research, regarding the recurrence and growing  prevalence in the last decades. One concluded that there is a gap between what has been researched by nurses and the reality of the Brazilian women’s health.
